The 10 Coldest Places on Earth
There are different ways to measure temperature. The East Antarctic Plateau’s temperature was measured by satellite in 2010 by scientists from the National Snow and Ice Data Center, and NASA. At 13,123 ft (4,000 m) in elevation, Vostok Station was measured in person, and is actually the lowest official air temperature. Can you imagine climbing over 2 miles high to hold up a thermometer? Here are the coldest places, measured in degrees Fahrenheit and Celsius.
- East Antarctic Plateau: -135.8°F (-93.2°C)
